From "Teddy Bears, A Complete Guide to History, Collecting and Care," by Sue Pearson and Dottie Ayers: "A number of brightly coloured long-haired bears which play a variety of jingly tunes when their tummies are squeezed have caused much debate among collectors about who made them. Although unmarked, the bears were all made by the same firm. In 1928 the US trade magazine 'Toy World' reported that Helvetic held the exclusive manufacturing rights to teddy bears with squeeze-operated music boxes. However, there is no evidence that such a factory existed". The musical squeeze boxes are stamped "Helvetic" but the rest remains a bit of a mystery!
