"Robin" Silberstein Bear
|
This adorable fellow dates c1906 and has an extremely long snout! Robin is dressed as he came to us in his denim overalls with name badge. He is in original, strong condition with overall wear to the mohair and characteristic velvet nose. This dear old chap is five way jointed and filled with wood wool. We are rarely able to offer these special bears as they don't come along very often! Robin has velveteen pads and measures 12.5" tall
Heinrich Silberstein began manufacturing jointed teddy bears in 1906. Steiff tried to take legal action against the company because they claimed a bear with movable limbs was their own invention. However, many other manufacturers also begain producing this type of teddy bear and the Steiff monopoly was broken
