German Silberstein Teddy

This fabulous fellow dates c1906 and is dressed as he came to us. He is in original, strong condition with some overall wear to the mohair and small darns on the tummy. He has the characteristic velvet nose and is filled with woodwool. We are rarely able to offer these special bears as they don't come along very often. His head now slumps a little and he measures 12" tall Heinrich Silberstein began manufacturing jointed teddy bears in 1906. Steiff tried to take legal action against the company because they claimed a bear with movable limbs was their own invention. However, many other manufacturers also begain producing this type of teddy bear and the Steiff monopoly was broken Additional pics SOLD
