Mary's Bear Provenance
|
We originally sold this beautiful Steiff bear on behalf of the family of his first owner several years ago and he is now offered for re-homing.
Ted was purchased by Richard Samuel Perry (the Mayor of Oswestry 1915-1917) for his daughter Mary who was born in 1905. The Parrys have been Mayors of Oswestry since 1802. There are copy photographs of the family and a later photograph of Mary and her family. The letter of provenance explains about Mary and the photos are totally charming.
Mary's bear is in lovely, original condition with a good covering of dark golden mohair and he retains his FF button. There is some wear to one foot pad and he has a non-working growler in his tum. Please enquire for more details on this wonderful old boy who measures just over 12" tall
